Guten Tag,
Discuss the following statement:
The high numer of guns in the USA is directly related to the high crime rate. Ownership of guns should be drastically limited.
Mein "essay":
Every day the hospitals in New York must help persons who were shot into - is this happening because guns are easy to get in the USA? So should the ownership of guns be limited?
One argument against this thesis is that it aren't only weapons responsible for the high crime rate. There are many other factors like the educational background or the surroundings of a poerson who commit the crime. Another point is that guns are used for self-defending on the streets. So when a murderer or burglar wants injure you, he can be shocked with a gun. In addation it's said that the crime rate wouldn't really drop when weapons are more difficult to get. People who really want to commit a crime like burgle a house or something else would get their equipment on a illegal way so the crime rate would increase.
It can also be argued for this thesis. First of all it would be more difficult to get a weapon. So it would also be more diffcult to commit a crime. That's one reason why the crime rate would decrease and it wouldn't be necessary to bear a weapon in the pocket. Secondly: conflicts would be solved on another way without violance. And finally there would be less amok runs or rather persons who run amok. And poeple with problems with the psych wouldn't kill other people who are innocent.
To sum up the limiting of the ownership of guns is necessary but it would be no use.
In my opinion the arguments against are more convincing than the arguments for the limiting. There are too many people in the USA who own guns and USA is a country of unlimited possibilities.
