Hallo
ich bin leider nicht so gut in Englisch und wollte wissen ob diese Aufgaben richtig sind.
Guy Fawkes Night
5th November is a very special date for British children. During the day they go to a school as normal and their parents got to work but in the evening something very exciting happens:they celebrate Guy Fawkes night.
Guy Fawkes was found in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament on the evening of November 4th, 1605, with 36 barraels oof gunpowder. He and some other men planned to blow up the building when King James I opened parliament the next day. Luckily he was stopped and a lot of lives were saved.
British people celebrate this with a bonfire and fireworks. This is sometimes done in private gardens but a lot of people go to organised events where professionals are responsible for the fireworks. It is tradition for children to make a "guy " , a model of Guy Fawkes, out of old clothes which are filled with newspaper. This "guy" is then put on the top of the bonfire and burnt. Sometimes children go around town days before bonfire night with their creation and ask for "a penny for the guy". This money is then used to buy fireworks.
Food plays a big role, too. Homemade toffee and ginger cake are typical things on the menu but baked potatoes and sausages are often cooked on the fire.At public firework displays hamburgers and hot dogs are also sold.
Fireworks can of course be extremely dangerous. For this reason the fire service are always at public displays and children are taught how to use fireworks carefully. They know that they must follow the instructions on the box and that they should keep their fireworks in a closed box and never put them in their pockets or throw them. Dogs and cats and other pets are always kept inside as they could et very frightened.
Children, however, love that special atmosphere that is created on Guy Fawkes night when you can hear the crackling of bonfires and see the wonderful colours that are produced by the fireworks.
